Admissions Policy
St. Margaret's School exists to educate pupils in an inspirational and dynamic, yet caring and supportive environment; we aim to provide the best possible experiences and to develop the talents of individuals, so that they can meet the challenges of later years.
An independent school, education and caring for girls from 3 months to 18 years and boys from 3 months to 8 years, St. Margaret's has strong traditional values yet embraces the modern world. It aims to prepare pupils for life by providing security, promoting diversity and pursuing excellence.

The Process
The admissions process is designed to establish whether or not St. Margaret's School can provide an appropriate education in suitable premises with personal support systems, so that the child can benefit from attendance at the school and develop in character and performance. Pupils need to feel secure, happy and supported in St. Margaret's School and awareness will be raised of any potential associated issues.
Applications for places at the school will be treated fairly. We will not discriminate against any prospective pupil, but where there is competition for places, priority will be given for siblings of current pupils and those that are committed to remaining at St. Margaret's throughout their years of school education.
The offer of a place will be conditional upon:
- There being a place available
- The Principal believing that appropriate facilities and systems exist within the school to provide satisfactory courses for the applicant and an appropriate level of support.
- Parents/Guardians disclosing in full at the time of application the nature and scope of any difficulties relating to the child
- Parents/Guardians agreeing, at the time of admission, to the child undergoing the school's educational assessments and to other external assessments, at their expense, if requested to do so by the Principal.
- Parents/Guardians recognition and acceptance that in cases where a special learning, welfare or physical need is identified, some school based opportunities may not be available.
- Parents/Guardians recognition and acceptance that in cases where a special learning, welfare or physical need is identified, there may be an extra cost incurred in respect of specialist help or learning aids.
The above conditions will also apply if a disability develops or is identified during the time the child is a pupil at the school.
